"Mommy" Swim Wear

I've come to the conclusion that you either like Victoria Secret Swimwear or you don't. I get a kick out of how they are mocked and made fun of but hey, I get it too. I mean who really wears some of that stuff?
Ehm, tan lines?

Am, I right? Still though, I usually always purchase a swimsuit from VS each year. And with this years swimsuit catalog already here it's once again time to start thinking about warmer weather and beachwear- some dread it, some don't. THIS YEAR however, has me looking at suits I never would have considered in the past. One pieces, monokinis and tankinis are all on my radar this year as I hunt for my new "mommy" swimsuit. Now don't get me wrong there is absolutely nothing wrong with those styles of suits, they are just not something I ever wore before pregnancy and being 37 weeks with several stretch marks and counting I'm considering a different route this year. I fully intend to bust my butt to get my body back, but plan on being realistic about it. I'm no celebrity with a full time chef and on call trainer nor did I win the lottery in the gene pool.......and for those of you who did you can suck it- kidding. Consider yourself blessed and don't rub it in, ok? It took nine ten months to put on this weight so it's going to take some time to get it off. And before you lay into me about "hiding" my stretch marks just let me say they are not something that I am ashamed of nor do I think you should be ashamed of but, let me display them as I see fit. K, thanks. Anywho, I wanted to share a few of my favorites that I am eyeing.

This one is actually a tankini top and separate bottom. I love this as it is still sexy, revealing a little cleavage, but blousy enough to cover any lovable leftover baby belly.

   Plunge Tankini
VIA

This is another favorite. I love this color and the ruching helps hide any sweet rolls you may have, not to mention- hello ta-tas! Which, if all goes well I will be breast feeding and for the first time in my life will actually have some up top. ;-)

This is a take on the one piece above just in a tankini option.

For those of us who do not have a naturally fabulous derriere this little number offers more coverage in that area. I will soon be hitting squats, lunges and dead-lifts like no ones business to get my rear end back in gear. Right now it ain't so pretty.

I thought this one was a fun little number. However, not everyone can pull it off. Heck, I don't even know if I could pull it off.....

  Fringe One-Piece
VIA

I am obsessed with leopard. I actually consider it a neutral in my wardrobe. This is the same suit as the coral one piece shown above just in a fabulous print. I think everyone needs a little leopard in their closet.
Ruched Halter One-piece
VIA

In love with this Retro piece right here. Ruched in all the right places. Perhaps I will look like a legit pinup girl with my new baby hips and well endowed nursing boobs? Yeah, maybe not but, I still love this suit and think it would work well on many body types.

I passed this one over several times but came back to it for its simple design and functionality. You could chase after your little sea monster or carry around your little mermaid without the fear of exposing your girls to everyone else along the shore. It's still stylish yet would conceal any bulge you may want to hide with it's loose cut.

Doesn't she just look happy? This suit makes me happy. May not be as forgiving as others but, darn it, it just looks cute and makes me feel happy. And I like turquoise.

AND if I had not been carrying my future little sea monster inside my belly for the last 9.5 months I would have ordered something like this. Here's to next year with fabulous stretch marks and all!

Do you have any preferences for that perfect "mommy" swimsuit?
