A Very Merry Christmas Indeed

Not sure what it is, but Christmas always seems magical to me. It's seriously one, if not the favorite day of the year for me. I love being with my family and sharing the laughs and priceless moments year after year. With Sawyer growing in my belly this year was even more special, not to mention it was the first Christmas in our new home. I look forward to the new traditions we will create and live out here through the many years to come.
Today there were so many amazing gifts given and received  that I could not possibly begin to name them all. However, I did want to share one special gift the Hubs and I received from my brother and sister-in-law. They created a memory book for us from our gender reveal. I had no idea they were going to do this and was completely in awe at the thought and gesture. They are both amazing people. It's an honor to call them family.

We also received Sawyer's first Christmas outfit (for next year of course) from the in-law's. It has to be one of the cutest little Santa outfits I've seen. Not that I'd be partial or anything...

Chief & Drake also got in on the gift opening action and tore into a few presents themselves.
(side note-hasn't Chief grown!?!)

Below was just a random shot I took with the new camera, which was also an early Christmas & push gift from my gracious husband. I thought it was pretty and festive and wanted to share.

God has truly blessed me & my family and for that I am forever thankful. I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas as well and remember the true reason for the season.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
 May God bless you all!

Baby Green.... gender reveal

We had our gender reveal back in November and it's been non-stop since then with the Holidays. However, we are beyond excited to announce that we are expecting a little baby BOY! Gregory Sawyer will be here before we know it and while we are currently enjoying this Christmas season I wanted to share with all of you the fun day our gender reveal turned out to be.

We were blessed with many family and friends in attendance and couldn't have hoped for a better time. While the weather was more on the warm side for late November we all had a blast. Food, fun, family and friends-what else could you ask for?
And a HUGE thank you to KKG Photography for capturing the day and creating the amazing video above. You truly have a gift.

p.s.- I was 20 weeks at the time of our gender reveal.
Hope y'all are having a very Merry CHRISTmas so far!

making my list, checking it twice...

Now that I've established my love and adoration for Christmas in my previous post, I have to make a confession.... I get out of control this time of year  -  with my spending that is. I always have great ambitions and goals of setting a Christmas budget and sticking to it and then it happens....I enter the stores or click on that link and WHAM! I need this for this person and that for that person and oh my niece will look so good in this and my nephew could really use that and my budget is no longer in existence. Then I feel the guilt because I have spent more on this person so I buy a little more for the other to even the gifts and make myself feel better. And I honestly do feel good about buying and giving to others, I would buy more if I could because I loooove buying things and wrapping them and watching the faces of the recipient as they open them. However, when I then look at my checking account I have another realization-  where the heck did all my money go?! So, with that being said I am dedicated to set and stick to my Christmas budget this year. To do this I have taken a cue from one of my dear friends and created a wait for it...Christmas Spreadsheet! and this year I will make my list and check it twice and not stray away on all the pretty and shiny distractions.

Here is a sample of my spreadsheet I created to stay on budget.

What do you guys use to keep track of your Chirstmas & Holiday spending? Got any suggestions to try for next year?

Here's a little list checking inspiration with some puppy love thrown in. I knew Santa loves yellow labs too.

the most wonderful time of the year...

I love love love love love LOVE Christmas! It is truly the most wonderful time of the year and I look forward to it with a passion. I admit Christmas can get overwhelming if you let it but I keep my focus on the reason for the season (Our Lord & Savior) and enjoy every single part rather than turn into a scrooge. I tend to start listening to Christmas carols once Halloween is over so I can enjoy Christmas for two months rather than just one. Last year I even put our tree up on Veteran's Day so I had a little more time to enjoy it as well. I don't know what it is about this time of year but it just makes me happy. My husband & I even had a Christmas wedding. I love making cheesecakes and candies and wrapping presents and snuggling up on the couch with my honey or doggies this time of year. The one red light town that I live in comes to life during this joyous season as well. All the homes that line main street are warmly lit up with the prettiest Christmas lights and decorations and it is so welcoming and inviting to drive through- y'all should visit. I love having my family together and sharing stories and gifts with each of them. I love Christmas! What about you? Do you have this obsession over Christmas too or with another holiday perhaps?

It's only August and I'm feeling this breeze that's coming from the rain we've had recently. It reminds me of fall! My feelings go into a seasonal mode with a specific feeling to fall and Christmas. I'm listening to Christmas music while doing my homework... I can't wait for Christmas! I wish my grandmother was here to share this feeling with me... Her spirit is here though(:

Obsession with Red Hair

I have an obsession with red hair. If you follow my TRESSES board on pinterest this obsession is somewhat evident.

I have been a blonde for the majority of my life but recently took the leap and went from blonde to red, albeit a suddle one, sort of.

I started out with a more brownish red and fell in love.....

When I added blonde highlights back to it I absolutely hated it so I thought, what the heck, let's go all over red! This was the immediate result.

We also found out the following weekend that we were expecting Baby Green. So I thought I would play it safe and wait until my second trimester before we colored it again. As I'm sure most of you know red color fades FAST so my hair was pretty much a brunette with hints of red in the sunlight by the time my second trimester rolled around. I sent my stylist an inspiration picture of the color I wanted...........

and before ya knew it I was red again.

Oh and I also got bangs. I love them and hate them- they are currently growing out and I am happy with that. I forgot how much of a hassle bangs are, although they are a fun way to mix up your hair style.
I have also been in the process of growing my hair out since late last year. (2012) It was pretty short and has gotten pretty long.

My goal was Kardashian length, but I'm getting the urge to cut it again. I'm afraid once baby gets here I will make the chop, as short hair is so much quicker and easier to manage. I also plan to gradually introduce blonde back into my hair after Baby Green's arrival since that will be in the spring.

What do you think? Do you like the blonde or red? Short or long?
